This heavily illustrated catalog tells the story of these almost alchemical materials in a product-by-product survey, charting their evolution from the mid-19th century to the present, from Wells Coates' iconic AD 65 radio to Konstantin Grcic's MYTO stacking chair, from Bakelite in the 1920s to today's latest high-tech polymers. The book is presented in a molded plastic half-slipcase inspired by Edson Matsuo's Melissa Coral shoe, which also exudes—remarkably—a tutti-frutti aroma.
